Michael's Super Burgers sits comfortably as a well-loved fast food and breakfast spot in Whittier, weaving together classic American burgers with hints of Mexican flavors. Positioned on Slauson Avenue, it offers more than just quick eats—with a nearly four-decade history reflected in the decor, including photos showcasing local events like the 'Back to the Future' filming nearby, adding a sense of community rootedness to the experience.

The atmosphere here feels straightforward and unpretentious, typical of an established neighborhood joint where regulars swing by for reliable, hearty meals. It’s the kind of place that works for a casual lunch break, a family breakfast outing, or a quick dinner stop, and the drive-thru ensures convenience without sacrificing the homestyle vibe.

Visitors tend to appreciate the generous portions and blend of menu highlights—chili cheese fries stand out with rich, well-balanced chili and melty cheese, while the homemade onion rings earn praise for their satisfying crunch. Burgers like the bacon avocado combo or cheeseburger specials reflect simple, comforting flavors rather than anything fussy, often drawing people who want something familiar but done well. Breakfast platters including steak and eggs or chorizo and eggs give the place a bit of a Mexican breakfast dimension, broadening the appeal beyond your usual burger joint.

Families with kids will find the kids’ combos a practical draw, and those who compare chicken nuggets here favor them for their crispier texture over bigger chains. It’s also a spot with a bit of local pride—long-standing in the neighborhood and peppered with nods to Whittier history, it feels like a place that’s grown up alongside the community.

Michael’s Super Burgers is best for anyone looking for a no-nonsense, tasty fast food experience with a dash of local flavor and history. Mornings through early evenings see the steady flow of breakfast and lunch crowds, making it a dependable option for a casual meal whether you’re grabbing a quick combo or settling down for a heartier plate. Expect a clean, friendly setting that’s practical and familiar, with a menu that caters both to traditional burger lovers and those craving Mexican-inspired breakfast and lunch dishes.

I tried a lot of small burger joints but this is by far is the best independent burger place Highlights: great flavor, service is good, onion rings are a must Detailed review: first time coming here nothing really brought me to here just a recommendation from a local and was my best decision to go Burgers: I got a single bacon cheeseburger with avocado I can't say nothing bad about the burger it was fresh, tasty, seasoned well and good ratio for the price. Fries: I got the onion rings with ranch and they tasted really fresh and breaded very evenly. The breading was crunchy and savory not to salty and not too greasy just right Definitely coming back.

I love this fancy fast food restaurant since Michael's Super Burgers has been around for 43 years when it first opened in 1981. It's got a timeline for the Whittier events like Back to the Future filming location at Whittier High School, the big earthquake in 1987, and so much more. Other than that, it's a nice place serving with Mexican meals, sandwiches, burgers, and hot dogs.

I was craving chili cheese fries and this was our first time having their chili cheese fries, chicken nuggets and Jr cheese burger. The chili cheese fries have probably been the best!! Better than Tommy's. The cheese is soo good and the chili too! The chicken nuggets are delicious better than McD's crispier but same ground chicken texture inside. Picture of nuggets were already divided by two kids

First time trying Michael's and really loved their onion rings and chicken nuggets. Me and my husband both agreed that the chicken nuggets were better than McDonald's nuggets and trust me I love McDonalds. Lol Their cheeseburger was alright. Meat was a little cold but it had a good flavor. Reminded me of Jim's burgers. I would come here again because they have a drive thru.

Great little spot to grab a bite to eat and get a cool history lesson. Pictures of the surrounding community throughout history. Nice and clean. Prices are good, healthy portions. Definitely coming back.
